According to Nielsen Media Research for May Sweeps, ABC News’ “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” outperformed CBS’ “Face the Nation” among total viewers and Adults 25-54. This marks the first time “This Week” beat CBS for May sweeps in eight years (May 2000).

According to Nielsen Media Research data, “Meet the Press with Tim Russert” was the top-rated Sunday morning public affairs program, placing first in all categories during the May 2008 sweep period. During the month, the NBC program attracted 4.129 million total viewers, a 58% advantage (+1.512 million) over second place ABC “This Week’s” 2.616 million, 69% more (+1.682 million) than third place CBS “Face the Nation’s” 2.446 million, and a 195% lead (+2.727 million) over “FOX News Sunday’s” 1.401 million total viewers. The Russert-moderated program has now placed first in total viewers for 42 consecutive sweeps. “Meet the Press” posted its best total viewer delivery for a May sweep since 2004 and has the best first-place advantage in both total viewers and the key demo A25-54 for a May sweep since 2003.
