Congresswoman Hilda L. Solis has learned what freelance writers know instinctively: If you want to meet celebs, write about them.

In Solis’ case, the star of choice is America Ferrera. And the medium, the press release.

Solis yapped about Ugly Betty on the House floor: “Madame Speaker, I rise today to congratulate America Ferrera for winning the Golden Globe for best actress in a comedy for her work in the ABC show “Ugly Betty.” Then she met with Ferrera this week to present her with a plaque or something.
