These 7 Valentine’s Day Mobile Stats Show Where Lovers Go and How They Met

Valentine’s Day is here, and analytics companies Foursquare and Slice Intelligence have mined their numbers to find fun mobile-minded facts about this holiday for lovers.

Foursquare looked into its rich sets of check-in data and location stats (many users allow the app to track their whereabouts at all times), while Slice Intelligence examined what we can learn from dating apps.

Check out this collection of seven stats:

1. Beloved eateries
The Cheesecake Factory and P.F. Chang’s greatly benefit from V-Day rituals, with the former getting a 30 percent week-over-week hike and the latter a 38 percent jump in foot traffic, per Foursquare’s data from the last two years.

2. It’s probably a rom-com night
Movie theaters see a 255 percent lift in foot traffic, Foursquare said.

3. Gotta eat
Sixty-four percent of moviegoers today will visit restaurants before or after the show while only 23 percent visit nightlife spots, according to Foursquare.

4. But should we do dinner before or after?
About 43 percent of moviegoers choose to eat out before the movie, while 36 percent choose to eat out after the film, said Foursquare.

5. Older dudes are totally swiping
Men make up 80 percent of Tinder’s paying subscribers, and 34 percent of these spending swipers are over the age of 40, according to Slice Intelligence.

6. Californians love Tinder
Tinder is the dominant online dating service for many Western states, particularly for California. Seven of the top 10 states, or 70 percent, for the app are West of the Mississippi, per Slice.

7. Mature women lean on eHarmony
Slice said that women over the age of 51 years old, meanwhile, were eHarmony’s best demographic, making up 23 percent of its paid subscribers.
