There Are Safety Instructions Somewhere In Air New Zealand’s New ‘Hobbit’-Themed Video

We all know what to do in case of an emergency, so let's just gaze at the precious.

Air New Zealand is back with their latest safety video, this time starring many of the cast members from The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, which opens December 17th. Amid all of the giant birds, wizards and celebrity cameos, there might be one thing that gets lost: the safety message.

To be sure, the majority of the flying public can probably recite the airline safety message from memory at this point. Which probably explains why Air New Zealand can take so many liberties with these details. That’s a good thing because if you didn’t know, you’d probably miss the instructions about inflating your life vest amid all the bungee jumping.

Ultimately, these videos now serve as partnership opportunities, promos for New Zealand tourism and PR opportunities for the airline, which gets a lot of attention whenever a new video is released. We had controversy with the Sports Illustrated models, sheep and David Hasselhoff, and a jazzercise class with Richard Simmons to name a few. As long as they all stay this fun — and funny — they can keep them coming.
