The Simpsons: Tapped Out Receives Sci-Fi Event

The science-themed update allows players to complete new quests as they interact with Stephen Hawking.

EA Mobile launched a new content update in The Simpsons: Tapped Out on mobile. The science-themed update allows players to complete new quests as they interact with Stephen Hawking.

As part of this event, players will receive Hawking as a new character for their towns. Users will also be able to construct the free PolyVac item, which will generate a black hole connecting their towns to other dimensions.

Early on in this event, players will need to send Homer through the black hole to complete a quest. When Homer comes back, he will bring with him a group of alternate Homer characters. Users can send these Homers to complete special tasks at the PolyVac to collect Matter, one of the new currencies in this event.

The black hole will also spawn enemy robots over time, which players can tap to collect extra Matter and Robot Parts. As users collect Matter, they can unlock a series of prizes including new decorations and buildings for their towns. Robot Parts, meanwhile, can be used to craft futuristic buildings and decorations inside the new 3D Printer item. Players receive the 3D Printer for free as part of this event.

While gamers can manually tap on individual robots around their towns, they can also play a special SciFighter mini-game at the PolyVac, which will instantly defeat every robot in their towns. During this mini-game, players are challenged to protect the PolyVac from robots for a short time by tapping robots before they reach it. The more robots players tap in each timed mini-game, the more Matter they’ll receive as a reward.

Once users play the SciFighter mini-game, they’ll need to wait a few hours before they can play it again. Players can also spend Donuts, the game’s premium currency, to skip the waiting time.

Elsewhere, players can tap on robots in their friends’ towns to earn extra event currency.

Finally, players can purchase new futuristic items in the game’s store. While many items, like the Springfield of Tomorrow Sign and the Giant Robot decorations, are available to purchase with Donuts, two types of hedge decorations can be purchased with free currency.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is available to download for free on the iTunes App StoreGoogle Play and the Amazon Appstore. This sci-fi event is split into three timed Acts, and different prizes will be available in each Act. As of this writing, players have 12 days to unlock all of the Act 1 prizes without spending Donuts.
