The Simpsons intro is one of the most recognized television show intros in history and it has come to life in a live action video that has gone viral over the last couple of days. The video itself is actually from 2006 and this version hit Vimeo about a year ago, but just started taking off over the weekend, proving once again that you never know when your video could go viral.
‘Come Home To The Simpsons’ was posted to Vimeo by user Devilfish. It was created for Sky One, an entertainment channel in the UK that is home to great shows including ‘The Simpsons’. According to the video description, the entertainment channel “commissioned a spot that would re-affirm Sky One as the true home of The Simpsons.”
But why has this four-year old video gone viral out of the blue? Reddit of course! Reddit is responsible for a huge portion of the videos that go viral, and this ‘Real life Simpsons’ video on Vimeo is currently in the number two spot for Reddit’s “What’s Hot” in Videos.
This isn’t the only Simpsons Intro parody to go viral. A few months ago the Banksy Simpsons Intro went viral, a Simpsons parody of Kesha’s Tik Tok went viral after it aired on the show last Spring, a Lego remake of the intro has been viewed over 7.7 million times on YouTube, and there’s even been a South Park style Simpsons Intro remake. But I think this latest live-action version is my favorite.
It’s really cool to see how they brought the animated intro to life, and through I wish Marge had bigger hair I think they did a great job with their casting of Bart and Homer. What’s your take on ‘Come Home To The Simpsons’ and the fact that this video has gone randomly viral after all this time? Check it out below and let us know what you think in the comments.
