The hicks behind ‘Kentucky Kicks Ass‘ are back, and this time they brought a hint of the Colonel’s secret recipe and a big bottle of only-in-Kentucky ginger ale with them.
Kentucky for Kentucky already earned a lot of media for its latest scented product launch, which “got hot like Jennifer Lawrence and sold out in under a minute.” The big headline-grabber was the fried chicken candle, created by Bluegrass State artisan Kathy Werking. In the group’s own words:
“THANK YOU SWEET BABY JESUS, THANK YOU KENTUCKY FOR BEING THE FIRST TO FRY CHICKEN.”
But they do other flavors too, guys.
Above, for example, is the “Scents of the Commonwealth Ale-8” candle, designed to “energize” any room with “the essence of ginger with a fresh citrus twist” by way of “grapefruit and lime essential oils.” “Ale-8-one or “a late one” was the latest thing in pop back in 1926.
There’s also a Kentucky Derby variety, which thankfully smells more like fresh mint juleps than horse hockey and sweaty seersucker.
We do have a one-word question, though: bourbon?!?
(Ed note: Can my home state of South Carolina really compete with Kentucky when it comes to firsts? Since we were “First to Secede,” we might have to settle for a “bitter 150-year-old smell of defeat” candle.)
