The New York Times Names New Police Bureau Chief

The New York Times has officially changed police bureau chiefs. The New York Observer reports that Al Baker has been succeeded by Wendy Ruderman, who came to the Times from the Philadelphia Daily News in early May. Baker will now take a spot at the education section of the paper.

Ruderman had been with the Philadelphia Daily News since 2007, but told The Philly Post that things were going downhill quickly at the Philly Daily News.

“I hate to say it, but if people at the Daily News aren’t looking, they should be,” Ruderman said at the time.
