The Movie Industry Is Dead – Infographic

Do you recall how one of the reasons why SOPA/PIPA were needed was to keep piracy from killing the movie and recording industries? I hope you didn’t take that too seriously.

The recent defeat of the proposed bills has sparkeda renewed interest in the history of these industries. Once you’ve learned about the past technologies that were supposed to have killed the movie industry, it’s going to be hard to believe that the internet is really any more of  threat than VCRs were in the 1980s.

Yes, VCRs were called “the Boston Strangler” of the movie industry. They were going to kill off movies. And since that obviously happened, the movie industry isn’t around today for piracy to be a problem.
