The Metro, Wrapped Up in Hipsterisms

Despite our aversion to excess waste, we make it a point to read Metro and amNewYork, the city’s two free dailies which, based on their content selection, are staffed exclusively by hipsters.

Exhibit A: Today’s edition of the Metro — wrapped in an ad for the Academy Awards hosted by Jon Stewart, the thinly-veiled mouthpiece of hipsters everywhere — and its front page stories:

  • Coverage of the Village Voice/Nick Sylvester scandal
  • Glowing film review of Dave Chappelle‘s Block Party
  • Profile of burgeoning indie rock band The Subways
  • Front page photo of wrist-banded air guitarist from 2006 U.S.
