The Guardian Asked 21 Poets to Create a New Poem for the Statue of Liberty in the Age of Trump

And there's a challenge for readers, too

While Trump senior advisor Stephen Miller doesn’t appear to be inspired by The New Colossus, the Emma Lazarus poem found at the base of the Statue of Liberty, The Guardian definitely is. A little over a week after CNN senior White House correspondent Jim Acosta’s much-dissected exchange with Miller about the “huddled masses yearning to breathe free,” The Guardian is reimagining the poem for our current political context, with the help of 21 American poets.
