Yesterday Politico Media announced it was emerging from behind the paywall, and today one of the first products from its new, open to the non subscribing public iteration debuts. The Joe Pompeo-penned Morning Media newsletter, successor to the subscriber-only Media Pro newsletter, hit inboxes this morning.
The format is familiar to readers of Politico Playbook, with items grouped in paragraphs of varying length that blend article quotes, important bits of info and the occasional hit of commentary. Tom McGeveran is editor, and Pompeo’s writing will be augmented with “frequent cameos” from Hadas Gold, Alex Weprin, Jack Shafer, Ken Doctor, Alex Spence and others.
That the newsletter will incorporate the work of Politico media reporters from Washington, New York and Europe is reflected in other changes to post-paywall Politico Media, specifically its move to incorporate reporting from all those areas, as well as media commentary, in one space, politico.com/media.
