The Arts Council Gives Money to Save Money?

Still catching flak for canceling Architecture Week, The Arts Council in the UK has released a statement saying that it is still committed to giving out money for both architecture and design. But the way they’ve phrased it doesn’t really add up. They state that they put in around $600,000 for this last year of Architecture Week and now, because it won’t be held, they’re going to instead pour $700,000 into other organizations, with “an architectural focus.” So, to go over that again: in order to save money being gobbled up by the Olympics, they’re going to spend an additional $100,000 over the cheaper thing they canceled. We’ve never claimed to be economists (well, Alissa has and we’re all still trying to forget that horrible mishap), but those numbers don’t quite add up.
