The 8th Annual Congressional Women’s Softball Game Is Happening Tomorrow Evening

A fundraising record to be proud of.

Members of Congress and the press will meet once again on the battle-diamond on Wednesday for the eighth annual Congressional Women’s Softball Game, where the Bad News Babes will attempt to quash the Members of Congress’ two-year winning streak.

The game, an evening during which national politics is replaced with national pastime, is also a fundraiser for the Young Survival Coalition, a support and awareness group for young women dealing with a diagnosis of breast cancer. This year’s fundraising efforts, totaling over $200,000, have set a record for the event, which has raised over $875,000 since it began in 2009.

While the teams with be strictly separated by profession, the hosts will bridge the divide, with NBC News chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell, CNN chief political correspondent Dana Bash and Senator Amy Klobuchar returning as emcees.

It all goes down beginning at 6 p.m. ET, when the gates open at the Watkins Recreation Center on 420 12th Street SE. The pregame starts at 7 p.m. ET. You can buy tickets to the game, and the after-party, here.
