Not every TV critc complains about the food on the TCA press tour. The Hollywood Reporter’s witty Ray Richmond, who’s obviously navigated the shoals of TV criticism successfully, has some tips for his peeps.
Ray’s an interesting guy with a pretty colorful past. For example, his mom made the world just a little bit more joyous.
My favorite bit of wisdom–
6. If a fellow critic asks a question of a network executive that elicits a shifty, evasive, awkward, uncomfortable, testy or ignorant response, be sure to follow it up by asking the same question in a slightly different way. And then again if necessary. Be sure to work yourself into a hostile lather. Rinse. Then repeat during each subsequent network executive session.
Cuz if someone’s not pissed off, you’re not doing your job.
