Even though T-Mobile is in the process of being acquired by AT&T, they are not stopping releases of new products and services. Today T-Mobile announced a partnership with WildTangent that will enable them to offer its customers Android games provided by WildTangent. T-Mobile customers will be able to play games that have advertising for free, rent games, and purchase games.
Rental payments will credited towards the purchase of games, effectively enabling people to buy games over a period of time. Users will also be able to make in-game purchases using WildTanget’s virtual currency called WildCoins, providing developers with an additional method of revenue in addition to game rentals and purchases. WildCoins are sold in packs, and one can currently buy 50 for $6.99.
The WildTangent Game app, which is used to access WildTanget’s catalog of games, will be provided to T-Mobile users. The Games app is currently available for Windows PC and presumably is in development for Android phones. WildTangent claims to have 1,300 casual, core, and kids games.
T-Mobile and WildTangent have not provided a specific date for when the Game app will be able, but did say it will be later this year. Most likely T-Mobile will alert their customers of its availability via email, and it will likely be available in the T-Mobile section of the Android Market on T-Mobile Android phones.
