Sylvania Releases a 10″ Android tablet No One Will Want

A new Sylvania tablet showed up on the J&R website today, and if I had to chose one word to describe it, that word would be revulsion.

The Sylvania Magni Tablet is based on a 10″ screen with a surprisingly low screen resolution (800×480).  It’s running Android v2.2 on an unnamed 1GHz CPU with 256 RAM, 2GB Flash, a microSD card slot, Wifi, and a 1.3MP camera. Oddly enough, there’s no sign that it has speakers or a microphone – features which most would think standard on a large tablet.

Normally I wouldn’t ridicule a gadget but the screen resolution is ridiculously low. All other tablets in this size range have a resolution of 1024×600 or better.  That’s about 40% more pixels, and that will probably be visible to the naked eye.

It’s listed at $199. You can also get the Archos Arnova 10 for that price, and it has significantly better hardware specs.
