StumbleUpon Shutting Down Themes, Photo Blogs

The reviews will be in just plain text. That means no themes or background images. The customizing aspect of designing a review will no longer be available. All former customized reviews will stay on the site, but will be converted to plain text reviews. Soon even the profiles will look the same, plain text (aka white background with black lettering).

StumbleUpon users are likely unhappy about the company’s decision to shut down some features of the service on October 24. The company reports that they are shutting down groups, photo and HTML blogging, and the ability to select themes. The reason behind the decision is to simplify the service and make it easier for a broader audience to use.

StumbleUpon will continue to allow its users to write reviews and comment. But, they will be without images or HTML.
