Last week the world was shaken by the news that Steve Jobs had died and the first place that many people turned to express their sorrows and celebrate Jobs’ life was social media. Social media monitoring tool Meltwater Buzz put together a word cloud identifying the top themes and words that people used to remember Steve Jobs on social networks.

Last week the world was shaken by the news that Steve Jobs had died and the first place that many people turned to express their sorrows and celebrate Jobs’ life was social media.  People paid tribute to the Apple co-founder on Facebook, Twitter, and beyond and social media monitoring tool Meltwater Buzz put together a word cloud identifying the top themes and words that people used to remember Steve Jobs on social networks.

The word cloud includes all the major buzzwords that you think it would—Steve Jobs, Apple, iPhone, iPod, iPad, and pancreatic cancer—but it also includes some that take a little more digging to find out where they came from.  For instance, Twitter user Jonathan Moss aka @jwmoss is part of the cloud thanks to a Tweet he sent out that wound up going viral: “Steve Jobs was born out of wedlock, put up for adoption at birth, dropped out of college, then changed the world.  What’s your excuse?”

The word ‘Commencement’ was also big on the list of words and phrases people used to remember Steve Jobs, thanks to tweets, retweets and posts about the incredibly inspirational commencement speech that Jobs gave at Stanford back in 2005.  You can click here to watch the commencement speech and other inspirational videos to remember Steve Jobs by.

Check out the Meltwater Buzz word cloud below.  Did you use these words when remembering and paying tribute to Steve Jobs on social networks last week?
