It is by now a devastatingly familiar entertainment news progression. It starts with TMZ releasing some bombshell audio or video and ends with very serious comment or consequence.
Earlier this year, Donald Sterling lost an NBA team because of TMZ’s reporting. Today, 7th Heaven star Stephen Collins is commenting for the first time (to People magazine) about some horrible revelations contained in a leaked-to-TMZ therapy session audiotape:
“Forty years ago, I did something terribly wrong that I deeply regret. I have been working to atone for it ever since…”
Collins’ statement is extensive, not entirely online and something Bill Cosby should study. The 67-year-old actor will also be sitting down Friday with Katie Couric to discuss his People statement.
