State Of The Media Jobs World: Mediabistro.com Job Postings Level Out Over March ’11

It should come as no surprise by now that we are total suckers for data.

That’s why we do things like track monthly job postings and create ugly line graphs (hey, you’re talking to a blogger here, not a designer) and are always posting charts and shit instead of pretty pictures.

THAT SAID…it is that time again, where we show how many job posts are on popular media job boards.

Mediabistro.com’s board has basically flattened out as far as numbers of postings go, which is to say that about the same number of jobs were posted as expired or were taken down this month. That’s about 1500-1600 open jobs on any given day.

Click the jump to see how three other boards fared in March:

JournalismJobs.com still has more postings today than it did a year ago, but this downward trend is somewhat disturbing, since we’re supposedly climbing out of a recession. A Jjobs rep did not respond to a request for comment by deadline.

No historical data for Bookjobs yet (though by April we will have some) though this publishing focused jobs board finished the month with a big spike in postings.

Last, the Public Relations Society of America’s board got enough postings to push past its February plateau—PR is hiring again, y’all!
