Sony Music's Don Ienner resigns, but no one knows why...

Sometimes, you’d think that a Nexis search is simply beyond the means of most major news outlets.

While the AP and lots of other organizations carry the news today that Don Ienner has departed Sony Music, none of them make mention of December’s payola scandal, and Ienner’s alleged knowledge of it.

Nope, he’s simply…gone.

Just two days after Charlie Walk was named president of Epic Records last winter, the Los Angeles Times claimed to have uncovered evidence that suggests Walk and his boss, Ienner, were aware of payola practices at Sony Music‘s Columbia Records, citing interviews with anonymous Sony execs.
