Sony Pictures Television International has inked a deal to provide on-demand movies and TV shows to South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom, Asia-Pacific Broadcasting reports.
As the first Hollywood studio to offer movies through SKT, Sony will initially provide all three “Spider-Man” movies as well as “Kung Fu Hustle,” “Surf’s Up” and the TV series “The Tudors” among others.
“South Korea is one of the most wired parts of the world and a pioneering market in terms of new media,” the article quotes Ross Pollack, senior VP, distribution, Asia, for SPTI, as saying. “This deal further strengthens our leading position in digital and mobile distribution in Asia.”
