Social Media Sensation 'I F*cking Love Science' to Become TV Show
Hit TV shows often spawn Facebook pages and other social media accounts with followers numbering in the millions, but how often do these things happen in the reverse order?
Elise Andrew, creator of the Facebook page and blog “I Fucking Love Science,” announced at SXSW this past weekend that her insanely popular creation is being turned into an hour-long TV series on the Science Channel, produced by writer/comedian/talk show host Craig Ferguson.
In her blogpost announcing the venture, Andrew marveled at how in just two short years, the “I Fucking Love Science” Facebook page has amassed 10 million followers, and that through its related social media accounts, the platform reaches fifty million people per week.
She stated excitedly, “I’m on board as a consulting producer, and will be contributing to the editorial ‘voice’ of the show to ensure it remains true to my vision.
