Twitter's Answer to Snapchat: Direct Messages with Photos (ReadWrite) Now you send pictures in Twitter direct messages, thanks to the latest update to Twitter's mobile iOS and Android apps. DMs are Twitter's answer to Snapchat, and apparently a big part of its goal to become your go-to messaging service. Twitter itself, in its pre-IPO prospectus just a couple months ago, ticked off competitors such as South Korea’s Kakao and Japan’s Line messaging apps that could pose challenges.
