Users can look for blogs and tags from the search tab; the app will also serve up recommended blogs based on searched tags. Shortly after doing so, he left the project, citing extreme frustration with ongoing delays in production. VentureBeat In other Tumblr-related news, chat-for-Tumblr startup Babblr soft-launched — again — in June. “After three or four days we started seeing the trend on Tumblr going from negative to really positive,” Babblr cofounder Brandon Sowers said. “Since then, we’re growing at a really good organic rate, and are now hitting 100,000 downloads.”

Yelp announced Tuesday that it will now allow customers to complete transactions with local businesses, starting with a food delivery service that will let customers purchase food on the site and then have it delivered. The move makes perfect sense for Yelp, since the company already has one of the most extensive databases of local businesses, with reviews and complete information on the services they offer. CNET The update is a part of a broader partner program called “Yelp Platform” that will eventually let members of the business reviews site book other types of services such as spa treatments, yoga sessions and dentist appointments directly from local business listings. The initiative introduces a commerce aspect to a service consumers have traditionally only used to gather or leave information about local businesses, and could help the company sell more ads to small businesses that wish to convert prospects into paying customers on the spot. AllThingsD The service will begin with local food delivery in San Francisco, through partnerships with Eat24 and, which will include 100 local food establishments. The move is akin to a number of local goods and delivery service startups, a market growing increasingly crowded with the likes of Seamless and GrubHub, though eventually with a wider scope.
