How Is Social Media Used In Emergencies? [INFOGRAPHIC]

Did you know that 64 percent of Canadians use social media, and more than half (54 percent) of those that do have said that they would use platforms such as Twitter and Facebook to alert loved ones that they are safe during an emergency?

These are the findings of a new Ipsos Reid study of 1,000 Canadians commissioned by the Canadian Red Cross. The survey noted that while 63 percent of Canadians think that emergency responders should be prepared to answer a call for help on social media, the Red Cross advocates always phoning emergency services first.
