Snapchat is officially part of the 10 billion club. Today, Bloomberg reported that 10 billion videos are now viewed each day on the ephemeral photo- and video-sharing app, up from 8 billion per day in February. A Snapchat rep confirmed the stat with Adweek. In addition, 60 percent of the app's daily users crank out their own snaps every day.
The new video-related stat is the latest sign Snapchat is going head-to-head with Facebook to acquire new users while boosting views. Facebook last reported in November 2015 that its users watched 8 billion videos per day. Currently, the social network's 1.65 billion monthly users watch 100 million hours of content on the platform each day.
At Facebook's F8 developers conference earlier this month, the company revealed a slew of video efforts—including a live-video push—aimed at getting people to broadcast and share their clips.
The milestone for Snapchat comes on the heels of rumors earlier in the week that Facebook is building a stand-alone camera app that would let users create clips to share with friends and family.
