Facebook Tests Snapchat-Like Photo Uploader for iOS App

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the photo uploader Facebook is testing for its flagship iOS application should make Snapchat feel very flattered.

If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, the photo uploader Facebook is testing for its flagship iOS application should make Snapchat feel very flattered.

Josh Constine of TechCrunch shared the screenshots above and below of the photo uploader being tested, saying that its features include:

  • The ability to add overlaid text to photos, in any color.
  • Users can instantly preview photo filters by swiping across their images.
  • Stickers can be added to photos.

Facebook confirmed the test to Constine, saying:

People want to be creative when they share experiences with their friends and family on Facebook. We are rolling out a new place to house all of Facebook’s photo-editing tools, making it even easier to add filters, stickers or text to your photos.

Constine reported that users with access to the new photo uploader will see vertical lines across their photos, informing them of their access to photo filters and auto color correction. A flashing button resembling a magic wand enables users to access the remainder of the photo-enhancing tools: filters, tags, text, cropping and stickers.
