Smule has produced a string of music related virtual instrument iPhone apps over the past year. Everyone of them has been unique and successful. But, I Smule has really knocked one out of the park with their latest iPhone app…
I Am T-Pain 1.0 ($2.99 in the iTunes Store)
It is essentially a Karaoke app with a twist, a very good twist. The app integrates Antares Audio Technologies‘ Auto-Tune technology that can pitch correct anyone’s singing in real-time. In other words, it does its best to make you sound as good as possible no matter how bad your singing really is.
The app provides 5 songs by the artist T-Pain (who I must admit I have never heard of) that you can sing along with. You can buy additional T-Pain songs via in-app purchasing.
The best way for me to explain the app further is to simple strongly encourage you to play the embedded YouTube video above which shows you what the app can do. I think you will be as impressed as I was by “I Am T-Pain”. And, I have to admit, I liked what I heard music-wise.
