Shepard Fairey, Alber Elbaz, Steven Holl Shortlisted for Brit Insurance Design Awards

After a successful inaugural year for its Brit Insurance Designs of the Year competition, London’s Design Museum has announced the shortlist for the 2009 awards (this year’s winner, you’ll recall, was Yves Behar, for the little laptop that could). The 93 nominated designs, which will be exhibited at the museum beginning February 12, are grouped into seven categories: architecture, fashion, furniture, graphics, interactive, product, and transport. A winner for each category will be selected by an international jury chaired by Alan Yentob, and one overall winner will be named Brit Insurance Design of the Year 2009 (although good luck wrestling the strapping Behar for the sash and tiara).
