Clean-Eating-ArtIt was good timing on the part of Clean Eating’s founders, picking up eight years ago on the nascent trend for food closer to the earth, literally and metaphorically. Clean Eating focuses on all those things that have now become household buzzwords: local, unprocessed, organic and sustainable food.

If you’re into cooking with healthful ingredients, you may want to think about pitching some recipes to the magazine, especially if you know how to get creative.

“I’m always looking for recipe developers who are really eccentric in what they cook,” said [editor in chief Alicia] Rewega, referring to experimental types with an eye on food trends. Recipe creators “should also be nutrition savvy and have a good sense of how to clean up otherwise indulgent recipes without sacrificing taste,” added Rewega. This means including seasonal ingredients, local produce, lean meats, sustainable seafood, healthy fats and/or whole grains; keeping calorie and sodium counts low; and avoiding processed foods.
