How would you feel about watching the NBA’s Sprite Slam Dunk Contest with Shaq? It’s easier than you may think! Shaquille O’Neal has teamed up with TNT and social TV platform Philo for a virtual viewing party. That’s right, starting at 8PM ET tonight, Saturday February 19, you’ll be able to check in and interact with Shaq and other fans on Philo or on NBA.com.
Shaq says, “I can’t wait to sit courtside at STAPLES Center and chat live on Philo with all my fans about NBA All-Star 2011. It’s gonna be awesome. Best comment of the night wins a pair of my shoes signed. Look forward to talking to you!” With a pair of Shaq’s shoes on the line I’ve got a feeling we’re going to be seeing a lot of great comments tonight. The only question is where the winner is going to keep that massive pair of shoes?
So how is this event going down? Shaq will be inviting his 3.5 million Twitter followers to join him as he gives a live play-by-play of the All-Star event. Fans will be able to check-in via the Philo web, iPhone, iPad or Android applications, as well as to unlock virtual awards and promotions, such as the Slam Dunk badge, in addition to real prizes (like the shoes!).
CEO of Philo, David Levy, says, “Millions of people already engage with Shaq in the social media space every day. We’re thrilled to provide a way for one of basketball’s biggest legends to interact with fans during one of the NBA’s most anticipated television events.”
Will you be checking in with Shaq during the Slam Dunk Contest tonight?
