She may not be Rep. Aaron Schock (R-Ill.) with rock hard abs, but her efforts are still impressive.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) dropped 40 pounds in 2010, has kept it off and opened up about it in the January issue of SELF Magazine. The story features her in a story headlined “Secrets of a SELFy Senator.” They write, “somehow, while running for election and helping pass landmark legislation, New York’s senator Kirsten Gillibrand found time to get healthy and drop 40 pounds.”
So how did she do it? She began jogging, kept a food journal, and stopped eating crap like french fries off her childrens’ plates. Her snacks consist of 10 almonds. For fun she plays squash with Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.), and jogs with Kelly and Shelly (that would be her colleagues, Rep. Shelley Moore Capito and Sen. Kelly Ayote).
