Nikki Schwab Joins DailyMail.com

She will be covering DC politics and the 2016 election.

Nikki Schwab, D.C. political reporter and former gossip girl, has left U.S. News and World Report for the DailyMail.com.

Schwab (at right in the photo with Maura Judkis of The Washington Post) joins the Mail as its U.S. political reporter, covering all things D.C. and all things 2016 campaign.

“It’s always been a dream for me to go out on a campaign trail,” said Schwab, who is preparing for the obligatory stint in an Iowa motel.

Schwab, who has previously written for the Washington Whispers column and the Washington Examiner’s popular Yeas and Nays, is looking forward to putting her experience covering both the wonkish politics and gossip of D.C. to good use.

“I’ve always wanted to be in this political journalism world,” Schwab tells FishbowlDC. “Obviously because they [The Daily Mail] are a British tabloid they appreciate all sorts of political news.”

As the pace of the 2016 campaign quickens and the election approaches DailyMail.com is expanding its presence in D.C. and coverage of the candidates.

As part of this expansion, DailyMail.com has also hired J.T. Rushing, a former Senate reporter for The Hill, a move that doubles the size of its D.C. bureau.

Rushing and Schwab join the Mail’s White House correspondent Francesca Chambers and political editor David Martosko.

Congratulations Nikki and J.T.!
