Schorr Goes On Record About Off Record Event

The Reliable Source writes up yesterday’s lunch honoring NPR’s Daniel Schorr who turns 90 this year (August 31).

Except for the arthritis in one knee (which has slowed his tennis game), he feels great and intends to keep on keeping on as NPR’s senior news analyst. “I don’t think at all about retirement,” he said. “For me, puzzling out what’s happening in Iraq or with Hezbollah is more fun than playing checkers.”

But the free speech champ Schorr (once on Nixon’s “enemies list”) wasn’t even aware that NPR had closed his own bday party off to reporters.
