Brace yourself because you are about to see one of the coolest things ever. Meet LG’s scanner mouse—the world’s first mouse that doubles as a scanner. Using “sophisticated computer vision algorithms”, the mouse captures items as you scan them. A video demo of the scanner mouse at CES 2011 was uploaded in January of this year, but it didn’t start taking off until this week. This morning it is climbing the viral charts on YouTube.
The really cool thing about this mouse is that it not only scans pictures and documents, but it also lets you scan word documents and actually edit the text once you’ve finished. Scan a document from a sheet of paper and it straightens it out and lets you drag and drop it directly into Word where you can color, format and edit your text. Pretty neat, eh?
According to an Engadget post earlier this week, the LG LSM-100 scanner mouse is already available for purchase in the UK for £89.98, which is around $148, and it is going to be available in other parts of the world any day now. Check out the promo video for the LG LSM-100 below. I would love to get my hands on one of these! How about you?
