Sandy Johnson Named President and COO of National Press Foundation

unnamedThe National Press Foundation today announced that Sandy Johnson will replace Bob Meyers as its president and COO. Johnson has been a member of the foundation’s Board of Directors since 2001 and served as its board chairman from 2007 – 08.

Current chairman Heather Dahl said of Johnson in the foundation’s announcement, “She has the perfect blend of executive-level management, strategic thinking and experience implementing innovative ideas. Combine these qualities with her deep roots as a journalist; I know she will lead our Foundation to the next level.”

Johnson served as the AP’s Washington bureau chief for 10 years and in addition, has held senior management roles at AARP Bulletin, Stateline, and the Center for Public Integrity.

Meyers, who is set to retire at the end of 2014, will remain with the foundation as president emeritus.
