Facebook Adds Icons For Same-Sex Marriage

Facebook followed up last year’s additions of in a civil union and in a domestic partnership as relationship status options with the introduction of new same-sex marriage icons, the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation announced.

GLAAD presented Facebook with a Special Recognition Award at its 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards in San Francisco last month.

The new icons will appear when marriages between two members of the same gender are added to Facebook timelines, replacing the man-and-woman marriage icon that appears for straight married couples.
