Salon Expands Team With 11 Hires

Salon has added 11 staffers to its team. Details are below.

  • Alex Bhattacharji has been named executive editor. He previously worked with The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Details and more.
  • Jeremy Binckes has joined as cover editor. His work has appeared in The New York Daily News and Yahoo News.
  • Chauncey DeVega has been named senior reporter of news and politics. DeVega has written for Newsweek, The New York Daily News and The Huffington Post.
  • Manny Howard has joined as deputy editor. Howard has written and edited for The New York Times Magazine, New York, GQ, Esquire, Rolling Stone and more.
  • Alli Joseph has been named a contributing editor. She has worked as a senior writer, producer and host for programs at NBC, CBS News and VH1. 
  • Carrie Sheffield has joined as senior politics and business reporter. Sheffield is the founder of the conservative website Bold and has written for The Wall Street Journal, TIME, USA Today, The New York Times, The Washington Post and Huffington Post.
  • Matthew Sheffield has been named a political reporter. Sheffield is the editor and publisher for Praxis. He has written for The Washington Post, The National Review and The American Conservative.
  • D. Watkins, a New York Times best-selling author, columnist and lecturer and professor at the University of Baltimore, has joined as editor at large.
  • Chris Murphey has joined as a senior video producer. He has worked with ABC News’ Nightline, CBS News’ The Early Show and CNN’s Lou Dobbs Tonight. 
  • Lauren Schiller, the creator and host of Inflection Point, has joined as executive producer for podcasts.
  • Josh Zepps has joined as a video anchor. Zepps was one of the founding hosts of Huffington Post Live.
