Michaele and Tareq Salahi, aka the middle-aged Speidi, really want you to remember they exist. That’s the only explanation for this whole scam with Tareq bawling on the local news like someone dissed Britney Spears and Michaele running off with some guy from Journey.

“This is not a joke,” he cries plaintively, choking on sobs. We call “bullshit.” And that’s not the kind of language we use very often.

In case you hadn’t heard, the previous paragraphs outline the story in a nutshell. And while it’s good for capturing some media action, this will be forgotten before the weekend. When we last heard from Michaele, she couldn’t earn a spot on Celebrity Rehab. Because she’s not addicted to anything, usually something people don’t lie about. There are no words for this.

As any good publicist worth his/her salt knows, without something substantive, you basically earn yourself a little media coverage and then the world moves on to bigger and better things. Or at least other things.

Seriously, is it worth ginning up a bit of gossip when you get splashed all over TMZ looking like this?  We’re going to bet that Michaele and Journey end up doing something lame that will grab our attention momentarily again in about a week or so.
