RootsAction Hosts Thursday News Conference on James Risen Case
On Thursday, RootsAction will host a news conference in support of New York Times reporter James Risen, facing prison for refusing to name a confidential source.
Risen, a Pulitzer Prize winner, is the author of the 2006 book State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration, In 2008, he was first subpoenaed to name a source of his book pertaining to a CIA operation in Iran.
The New York Times reported in June, that, “After more than six years of legal wrangling, the case — the most serious confrontation between the government and the press in recent history — will reach a head in the coming weeks.”
