American Majority Action’s 23-year-old spokesman Ron Meyer has landed himself in hot water as of late for announcing on Fox News that House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) knew about a coup against him and would resign.
Now there’s more.
Not only was none of that true — Boehner never planned to resign; he also didn’t entirely know about the various coups — large and small — being organized last week as some in his Caucus struggled to decide if they wanted him back.
But on Twitter, Meyer defended himself, insisting he was only reporting a “rumor.” Why kill the messenger, right? But it turns out Meyer is something of a fibber as he sent out this Jan. 2 “release” to journalists all over town. A few questions as you read it: Does this release look like he’s reporting a rumor? As one D.C. journalist put it, “Since when does a political activist report?”
Meyer can’t talk because his bosses won’t permit it. And well, maybe that’s a positive already…

I have confirmed with a group of Congressmen that Speaker Boehner will not be elected Speaker tomorrow.
He will either resign or be forced out tomorrow.

Speaker Boehner didn’t resign tonight–as some sources told me he would. I was somewhat skeptical from the beginning, and this info was from different sources than the ones that helped AMA correctly predict the exact vote counts for Plan B and the Biden-McConnell bill.
The incorrect sources were in the establishment; the sources for the other vote counts–including for tomorrow–are very Conservative members. These conservative members remain optimistic that Speaker Boehner will lose his job tomorrow.
