Rolling Stone India Launches

0306rollingstoneindia.jpgRolling Stone is launching an Indian edition this week. Their coverboys: Led Zeppelin.

Now, Led Zep. A bit rocking… but a bit old. So we parsed the news of the mag’s launch and found out the following:

1: Alternate covers will be made for the first issue — four in all. Besides Led Zeppelin, Jay-Z is also one of the featured artists.

2: Editor Radhakrishnan Nair accepts that the mag is going after the Indian baby boomers. According to him, “We are looking at young 20 to 30 year-old (readers), but we know the magazine is quite popular with people of a slightly older demographic.”

3: The mag was licensed to Indian publisher MW.Com by Jann Wenner & co. with a catch: The EIC of Rolling Stone India will be Anuradha Mahindra, the wife of MW.Com owner Anand Mahindra. Just think of it as Rupert Murdoch & Wendi Deng x10.

4: Bollywood will, of course, be covered.

5: The launch party was awesome.
