NYC-based WISE Public Relations appointed John McCartney to the newly created role of director of media relations. Dushka Zapata joined Ruder Finn to head the agency’s west coast operations. Dushka will become the agency’s Managing Director, Ruder Finn San Francisco, a newly created position. Resolute Consulting hired John Cohen as executive vice president of its national security strategy and communications practice in Washington, D. C.. Cohen was formerly principal deputy coordinator for counterterrorism at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In his new role, John will work with Resolute Consulting clients to assess the public environment surrounding complex issues and develop strategic communications and outreach strategies to help solve them. He will leverage his extensive experience working with the news media and preparing and implementing crisis communications plans for public and private sector entities. (Release)
Alan Hoffman joined PepsiCo as senior vice president, global public policy and government affairs, effective Nov. 26. In this role, he will lead PepsiCo’s public policy and government affairs activities worldwide. Hoffman most recently served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Vice President Joe Biden and Deputy Assistant to the President, where he was responsible for the long-term planning and day-to-day operations of the vice president’s office.
Hoffman previously served as senior vice president for external relations for the University of California and also spent time as a partner at Timmons & Company, a Washington, D.C. government relations and consulting firm, and as vice president for external relations at the RAND Corporation. Earlier in his career, Hoffman served in the Clinton White House working on health policy issues. (Release)
