Weber Shandwick expanded its Bay Area team with several key hires following last year’s appointment of Luca Penati as GM of the San Francisco and Silicon Valley offices. Jonathan Carroll will be SVP leading Weber’s Digital and Creative teams in San Francisco while Heather Gallegos will be SVP leading the Employee Engagement & Change Management group and Douglas Myers will be VP of the firm’s corporate practice (also in the San Francisco office). Prior to joining Weber Shandwick, the three worked at Livefyre, Cisco Systems and Landis Communications, respectively. In a statement, Penati said that the three new hires “each bring significant value to the San Francisco team as we expand our capabilities and continue to integrate traditional PR with social, digital and broader marketing services.”

Edelman expanded its presence in South America with the acquisition of Colombia’s largest firm, Position Comunicaciones. The firm’s newest office in Bogota complements those in Brazil, Argentina, Mexico and Miami; acting Edelman Latin America CEO Allan McCrea Steele calls Position “the perfect partner to contribute to our vision in the region.” (Release)

New York’s Horn Group announced the creation of “Horn.Global,” a new offering designed to help B2B and B2C tech companies increase their media coverage and their “digital presence around the world” with the help of “approximately 15 partners in 35 countries on an as-needed basis.” Partner Debra Raine will manage Horn.Global while running the firm’s San Francisco office. Rubenstein Public Relations has hired Anu Kher as associate vice president. In this role, Kher will manage media relations strategies for RPR’s Corporate and Financial Services division. Previously, Kher served as a senior account executive at Affect, and prior to her career as a public relations professional, Kher served as a reporter for Times of India. (Release)

Warschawski has hired Abigail Wadsworth as an associate. In this role, Abigail will handle media relations, social media, and create integrated marketing campaigns for the agency’s clients. Prior to joining Warschawski, Abigail was the marketing manager for Brand Launcher in Baltimore. Previously, Abigail ran her own freelance consulting business. (Release)

Flackable has hired Alexa Miller as an account coordinator. In her new role, Miller will focus on media relations, digital strategy and brand marketing services to Flackable’s client roster. Prior to joining Flackable, Miller was a public relations intern at Cashman & Associates in Philadelphia where she worked on a wide range of accounts in the hospitality, travel and lifestyle sectors.
