Ogilvy & Mather Japan G.K. has appointed Erik Jenkins as social media director. In this role, Erik will lead the development of social media strategies for the firm’s clients. Erik most recently served as group manager of Water Category at The Coca-Cola Japan Company, and has also worked with other major companies during his career, including Unilever. (Release)

Duffy & Shanley has named Jesse Snyder senior art director in the agency’s Creative Group. In his new role, Jesse will provide design and creative services for nearly all the brands on Duffy & Shanley’s client roster. Jesse brings more than 15 years of design experience, most recently for TJX Co. He previosly worked for Toth + Co in Boston, creating brand solutions for clients, and for Wieden+Kennedy in Portland, Oregon, where he designed advertising for global brands. (Bulldog Reporter)

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio hired longtime associate and PR veteran Karen Hinton as his new press secretary. Hinton, who is president of the firm Hinton Communications, worked with de Blasio at the US Department of Housing while she was assistant secretary for public affairs in the 90s. Her first act in her new position was deleting her personal Twitter account. (NY Post)

SheKnows has named Carl Hixson as its first CTO. In this role, Hixson will focus on Momentum, the publisher’s data-driven content management system aimed at helping advertisers “create content [and] manage ad units around content in a single, seamless ecosystem,” Hixson said. Hixson previously built digital platforms for Getty Images, HBO, Pearson, and McGraw-Hill. Momentum is expected to be officially released at the BlogHer conference in July. (ad exchanger)

RAVE Restaurant group has hired Jami Zimmerman as its new director of communications. In her new role, Jami will oversee internal and external corporate communications, as well as manage public relations planning and programming for the company’s two restaurant concepts, Pizza Inn and Pie Five Pizza Co.
