Roll Call Reshuffles Posts, Reframes Living Section

Roll Call is announcing shifts today that will be effective Monday. Probably the biggest is that Jason Dick, formerly the House Leadership Editor, is now going to oversee the newly named and expanded “Around the Hill” section. It’s now going to be called “Hill Life.” Dick will continue to manage HOH, the publications gossip column. Lauren Whittington will take over as House Leadership Editor. David Drucker will step in to cover House leadership. The interim Politics Editor will be Shira Toeplitz.

To the CQRC Edit Staff —
I’m pleased to announce that Jason Dick has agreed to oversee and develop an expanded Around the Hill section for Roll Call and In fact, we will be renaming the section “Hill Life” to better reflect the range of stories and features we will be offering to our core audience on Capitol Hill. The “Heard on the Hill” column and blog will also remain under his leadership.
Jason came to Roll Call two years ago from National Journal and has ably led our coverage of House leadership. He has a great imagination for stories, features and against-the-grain coverage of our particular waterfront. The Hill Life section will include books, movies, nightlife and other things for Hill staff to do on and off campus. It will also continue its close coverage of the workaday world that our readers inhabit — Capitol Police, Architect, LOC, etc. This has been and will continue to be a signature feature of the Roll Call mission.
For now, I’ve asked Lauren Whittington to take over as House leadership editor in anticipation of a larger newsroom role for her. Dave Drucker will also come over and help beef up our coverage of House leadership.
I’ve asked Shira Toeplitz, the senior member of the Politics team, to serve as interim editor while we develop our coverage strategy for the 2014 election cycle.
All of these moves become effective Monday. I’m happy to discuss these and other changes any time.
