Gilbreath Communications, Inc. recently announced key senior personnel changes. Damon Yerian has been promoted to vice president of creative services from creative director. Yerian joined Gilbreath in 2001 and steadily rose in rank throughout his award-winning career, earning several gold ADDY Awards, two gold Excalibur Awards and three Telly Awards, among many other honors. Additionally, public relations and marketing veteran Bettie DeBruhl, APR, is Gilbreath’s new vice president of marketing communications. DeBruhl previously headed BDB PR, a Houston-based public relations agency for the past three years. She also served as senior vice president of the public relations division at FKM, the largest advertising agency in Houston, where she worked for 19 years. DeBruhl has earned several honors for her work, including awards from the Texas Public Relations Association and the Houston Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America, among others. (Release) UPI Next has chosen Luisa Piette as its new director, a move that will continue to bolster the division's rapid growth and presence in media development efforts in developing nations and emerging democracies. Piette replaces Michelle Betz, who is relocating overseas. She brings more than two decades’ experience to her new role. A seasoned journalist, international media coach and marketing communications leader with expertise in corporate management and human rights, she recently worked in Africa as a media development officer for UNESCO. (Release) GolinHarris announced the appointment of Elizabeth DeLuca as director in the consumer practice in its Chicago office. Deluca will join the agency’s Connector community and will be responsible for helping to lead GolinHarris’ work for Walmart. DeLuca brings more than nine years of marketing and public relations expertise to the team. She joined GolinHarris from Rubenstein Communications, where her client portfolio included St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Google/YouTube, Swarovski Crystal, Sundance Channel and Condé Nast Entertainment. Prior to Rubenstein, DeLuca spent over three years overseeing public relations and marketing efforts for retailer Kohl’s. (Release) Socialbakers has named Neil Morgan chief marketing officer. Morgan, who joins from Adobe Systems, where he led marketing in Europe for the Adobe Marketing Cloud, has become responsible for global marketing strategy and implementation to accelerate Socialbakers’ market growth. Prior to Adobe, Morgan led marketing and partnerships in EMEA for Omniture and has also held senior marketing positions at Siebel Systems, Chordiant Software and Oracle Corporation. (The Drum) After three years with UK site themediabriefing.com, Patrick Smith has accepted a position at BuzzFeed UK as media editor starting next month. Smith will remain based in London. A spokesperson for BuzzFeed tells FishbowlNY there are currently 10 editorial employees at the London office, with plans to add several more by year’s end. (FishbowlNY)
