Roll Call Acquires GalleryWatch

Looks like the Big Wigs at the Economist Group have given Roll Call an early Christmas present.

From the release:

Roll Call newspaper, an Economist Group business, announced today that the company has acquired GalleryWatch, a leading provider of online legislative information for government affairs professionals.

Roll Call is one of the most effective publications for reaching influential readers inside the Beltway. The acquisition of GalleryWatch is an excellent fit. Launched in 1996 in Austin, Texas, GalleryWatch is a leading provider of real-time online legislative information for searching, tracking, managing and analyzing the federal and Texas legislatures. GalleryWatch serves professionals at government agencies, trade associations, corporations, law and lobbying firms, and universities, many of which are also Roll Call readers.

GalleryWatch’s unique content and tools will enable Roll Call to address the needs of Capitol Hill decision-makers even better, while GalleryWatch will benefit from Roll Call’s resources, editorial capabilities and strong ties to government affairs professionals. We plan to invest behind and grow the business.

“We are very excited about the acquisition of GalleryWatch, which will enable us to provide even more in-depth coverage of the way Congress works,” said Laurie Battaglia, Publisher of Roll Call. “GalleryWatch is the perfect partner for Roll Call, and will provide an excellent technology platform for offering more value to this important audience. We believe there is great opportunity for growth because of its potential scalability and look forward to working with the GalleryWatch team.”

“GalleryWatch views the combination of its business with Roll Call’s strong market position and The Economist brands as an important strategic opportunity,” said Laura Kilcrease, Board Member of GalleryWatch.
